Homesick Blues

Jayden has really been having a rough time at college. I personally think Janurary and Februaruy are cold gloomy months that just make a person blue anyway. Jayden is at the point where she is sick of college, her town, and trying to rodeo. She says she doenst like the town, or the people, and if she can't rodeo she certainly doesnt want to be there any more. This past weekend really hit her hard. The first college rodeo fo the spring and she could'nt even go. Her new horse Queen has turned out to be something of an out of control beast that Jayden doesnt even want to ride. She had a friend run her this week at a barrel race and the horse plowed over 2 barrels. Joker is struggling to recover and has been at a vet trying to fight off strep equi bacterial infection along with an allergic response that has his legs all swollen. He has been at the vet for a month. We are praying he will recover, but there is so much we don't know yet. He gave Jayden a glimmer of hope in the barrel racing world just before he got sick. He was running and his times were getting faster. Wes, the roping horse had an injury and requires a sweat wrap on his leg every 24 hours. Jayden still wanted to go along to the college rodeo for the weekend with all her friends, enjoy hanging out and watching even though it would be hard not competing. She couldn't go because she had to stay home for the weekend to wrap her horses leg twice a day. It is really like having children. Friday night she still had a roomate at home, but Saturday she was all alone and dislikes to be alone. She decided to get out of town and had to drive an hour and 20 minutes to the next town that would have a restaurant and one shopping store. She took herself out to eat and shopping. A little shopping always makes a girl feel a little better. She was sad knowing that we were celebrating Ali's birthday and she couldn't be back. She has really been missing us and home. Of course that makes me sad too.
She no longer has a boyfriend, doesn't have very reliable good friends, doesn't enjoy the classes she is taking, has 3 online classes, which means she isn't in class and has a ton of free time. She does not enjoy too much free time. She usually spends her free time riding and can't even do that right now. Things just aren't going the greatest in her life currently.
Jayden calls me daily, sometimes up to 6 times in a day. I hope she realizes she needs to live closer to us.
One weekend in Feb, her two guy friends took her to Stillwater to a concert. Jayden told me the guys watched out for her the whole night and she tried to get them to dance and met girls. She said it was an interesting time.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
