Sarasota Florida

We took a family trip to Sarasota Florida February 22-29, 2020. We flew out of Des Moines Saturday at 10:30AM  arriving in Sarasota at 2:30. We rented a Land Rover vehicle ( The boys idea) and checked into the Lido Beach Resort located on the key of Lido beach not far from Longboat key where we stayed in 2019. The resort was on the beach, we had an ocean view with a balcony, swimming pool, beach chairs, and palm trees. We enjoyed the sunshine and beach Saturday and Sunday. The first 4 days Mark an I got up and took a walk on the beach first thing in the morning. We both really enjoy beach walks and the shoreline went for miles. Jayden flew in and arrived Sunday around 10PM. We were all so very excited to see her, it has been since Christmas break. She was like Barbie with her long blonde hair, pink glittery nails. pink purse, and pink luggage. Monday we enjoyed more of the sun and beach. Jayden didn't leave her pool chair much during the day. I had to tease her in her cheetah pri

Joker Recovery

Joker's recovery was taking so long. We began to wonder if he would ever fully recovery, and if he would have life long complications. Jayden went to see Joker a couple times. It made her happy and sad at the same time. The vet was very patient with Joker, trying to come up with the best care for him. He had been there for weeks. I even  spoke to the vet on the phone and suggested he speak to an ISU vet that knows Joker. He liked that idea and reached out to them along with OSU vets. He tried different antibiotics and was getting injections 4 times a day. Some were in the muscle, some in the vein, the poor horse. He was a trooper through it all and the vet said he was great considering. Eventually the vet came up with a plan. He wanted Jayden to take Joker to a bigger hospital where they would scope him and inject antibiotics up into his guttural pouch where he had the abscesses. Jayden was willing to do whatever it took to see her big guy get better. She did exactly that. She coul

Homesick Blues

Jayden has really been having a rough time at college. I personally think Janurary and Februaruy are cold gloomy months that just make a person blue anyway. Jayden is at the point where she is sick of college, her town, and trying to rodeo. She says she doenst like the town, or the people, and if she can't rodeo she certainly doesnt want to be there any more. This past weekend really hit her hard. The first college rodeo fo the spring and she could'nt even go. Her new horse Queen has turned out to be something of an out of control beast that Jayden doesnt even want to ride. She had a friend run her this week at a barrel race and the horse plowed over 2 barrels. Joker is struggling to recover and has been at a vet trying to fight off strep equi bacterial infection along with an allergic response that has his legs all swollen. He has been at the vet for a month. We are praying he will recover, but there is so much we don't know yet. He gave Jayden a glimmer of hope in the bar

Yoga

I discovered doing yoga by watching a youtube video is a very practical way to enjoy yoga without having to leave your house and attend classes. I started small and simple and introduced Mark. We have been doing Yoga a few nights a week together. We both enjoy it very much. It is relaxing, yet stretches your muscles and joints. We have gained a lot of range of motion, flexibility, and overall feel much better when we do yoga. Jayden has joined us a couple times, the boys haven't given it a try yet.
