Christmas is a day to rejoice in the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. He cam into this world to serve and not be served. He came humble and for our redemption. We traditional celebrate with early morning gifts and breakfast. The tree is decorated with gifts all around. The stockings are full and Christmas music is blaring. We wait together in the hallway so that everyone goes to the tree together. It was 9 AM when we all were up starting with stockings.
By 11, we wanted to enjoy the beautiful day. Near 60 degrees, no snow or wind on Christmas in Iowa is unheard of!! Mark and Jayden saddled horses and took a ride.
I didnt feel like I had enough time with the house tornadoed in wrapping paper, lunch to fix, Ali and Blake to come with the kids, and to be dressed and ready to go to Karen's at 3. I did go out for a nice walk down the hay field. It was a jacket kind of day but that was all that was needed. Mark and Jake also took a bike ride. Riding horses and a bike on Christmas has to go down in history!!
Luke played fetch and ran around with the dogs. I fixed an egg casserole for our brunch and Ali and Blake and kids came at 1. The kids had gifts for each other and I gave Blake and Ali their Wedding album I put together. It takes me hours and hours, days and days to download, arrange and put together a photo book. I knew they probably wouldn't ever have the chance to order photos or make a book, so that was our gift to them. We were at Karen's early and the others all arrived late. Karen fixed her famous homemade noodles along with turkey, ham, and pork loin and lots of other goodies. There was wrestling entertainment by Bridget and Andrew. They wrestled each other, then Andrew wrestled Rylie, and Luke. He is quite the scrappy tough little guy. He wrestled hard for about an hour and knows the moves. He is quick and never gives up. He was wrestling for long periods of time and put his all into it. He wrestled with Luke pinned him. Andrew is a lot littler, but he makes up for it in drive. We visited into the evening waiting on the last couple to arrive and started gifts after 7PM. Karen starts youngest to oldest every year. Karen gets every person a gift including the boyfriends, Orrie gets every person a $100 bill. Everyone does a gift exchange so it takes a good while to open all the gifts. Luke played a few Christmas songs on his guitar and we headed home late.
