December

December 2018 .... We picked out a live Christmas tree from a tree farm. The tree height just didn't match up to the size. We brought one home and it seemed even smaller in our house. After two weeks the needles were drying and falling out with plenty of  watereing, I sent it outside and put up our fake tree. I was a little irritated.

Tim threw a surprise birthday party at Karen and Orrie's house. He specifically told me not to bring a gift, I must have been the only one he told because everyone did.  I am glad I brought something too. We don't spend a lot of time with the Anderlik's anymore. Our families seem to have grown apart. It makes me sad. At her party it was our family and the Anderlik relatives. Ferarri's were unable to attend.
We made a visit to see Ila in mid-December. The boys and I took some banana bread and Luke brought his guitar. He played some songs for Ila which she loved. She was thrilled we could be there. She is such a sweet lady.
Our church hosted a community movie night at the Boone movie theater with free popcorn, hot cocoa, cookies, and even had the Elf greet everyone. The movie was of course "Elf". We had a few winter riding days. Jayden rides all the time, the rest of us not as much. She has even ventured outside the arena a few times for a light ride in the snow. Too cold for me, but great for taking some cool horse photos. Occasionally when we ride, we have a companion ride, Latte loves to be in your lap even if that means while riding a horse. Then there is Bandit, he will do anything to get attention and loves to be petted. He will sit like a parrot on my shoulder.  Luke is getting used to Wess with each ride. He just needs hours in the saddle.

Jayden started a new job working at Boulder Tap House in Ames. It is a new sports bar restaurant and she is the hostess. She likes the people she works with and the job isn't too bad, it's the wages that hurt. She works hard in an hour for all of $8. She hopes to train in order to become a waitress and make money in tips.

Luke likes to attend the 4H rifle discipline classes. He is a great shot and does really well. His target looked better than any other kids. even the older ones. I think his instructor was pretty impressed, I know I was.
Blake and Ali were finally given the ok to move in to their new home. Blake's family farms and he gets to live in one of the landlord's homes. Ali was so excited, going from a very small home to a large 4 bedroom farmhouse was a dream come true for her.  Luke, Jake and I went to visit the new house. It is big and roomy, lots of hard wood floors, gorgeous wood trim, and vintage. We are super excited for them too.
Jossie's boyfreind, Zack invited Jake to go along coon hunting. He had a good time and they got a racoon.
The weather after Christmas was all over the place.  We didnt have a white Christmas. The temps have been 30, 40, and Thursday it was 50. Then temps dropped and we got snow on Friday and Saturday temps in the teens.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
