It was a busy weekend for Jayden. The ISU rodeo club hosted their annual Cyclone Stampede Rodeo. It brought me back to my years of helping host the big rodeo. Only ours was an outdoor rodeo in not so great facilities and always so cold. I can recall the club members working for a couple weeks painting, cleaning, advertising, getting sponsors, and fixing everything up for the big weekend. This years ISU rodeo was held in the Hanson center indoor arena. Jayden helped in the food stand. All they had were a dozen boxes of pizzas sold by the slice. There is so much potential for what that club could be doing with some supervision. All the little details are missed because it is student run without an advisor. They have two new coaches that like to show their authority, but lack leadership and knowledge. Jayden also hauled the trailer Friday and Saturday with her horses, bringing along Joker to carry flags. She also set up barrels and of course competed. She ran on Friday morning slack with Ace. Ace ran a great run for her with 3 solid barrels and a good time. Just out of the top to make short go again, but super pleased with her run. She had so many people tell her they would come and watch from home friends, college friends, family and relatives. Being in slack at noon made it impossible for most working people to come watch. When it came down to it, the dedicated supporters were there, Mawgee, Peepaw, Auntie Alice, Mom and Luke. I wouldn't have missed it and Ali went with me too. Luke had a cough he had been trying to get over and he went with Mawgee and Peepaw to spend the night and go to Alivia's annual pumpkin party. He was feeling kind of rough. I stuck around after to watch the afternoon rodeo performance too. At one point a couple cute cowboys sat doan beside me so I chimed in and started asking about where they go to college, what events they are in, etc. When Jayden came by to talk to me, I introduced her. It cant hurt to introduce her to some cute cowboys, right? Ha ha. Later she told me that she already knew him and they were kind of laughing about it. It was a good weekend overall. Jayden was most excited at how well Ace ran. Even though it didnt quite make the top 10, he is running with the top notch horses. It always feels good when your horse is working for you.
