March Snow

Dinner Date.. .Mark and I went out with the Haverkamp's to dinner. It came about when Tori and I were speaking after a bible study. We talked about our husbands having so much in common and she decided to invite us out. Her husband has been a real estate investor and recently bought a ranch out in Wyoming. We had some very fun conversations about all kinds of things. Most interesting, they are avid hikers and have gone on hikes all over the world. Not just your average day trip, but hundreds of miles over several weeks or more. We talked about our kids and church. We talked about money, investing, teaching your kids to give in big ways, etc. It was a fun outing and we enjoyed getting to know new people. Baby Shower.. .Jayden's youth group small group had a baby shower for her leader Audrey. She is expecting soon and was surprised with a little shower at Jayden's other leaders home. Jayden was not exaggerating when she told me the girls in her group, which are now down to

Jake

Jake is quite a guy. He has his own style, taste, and interests. You will find him wearing a screen print T shirt in the summer, preferably something with a print out of the 80 or 90's. In the winter you will find him wearing a flannel, always. He has to have a hat to finish the look, and  for the past year, sunglasses. The sunglasses sit on top of his hat when it is cloudy or he is inside, but they are part of his look. The neon green shades have been an accessory for the past year, its just his thing. He loves to drive when he can, but begs to drive 'his" Chevy any and every chance he can get. He loves the old pickup truck more than anything. He would drive it over a brand new shiny one any day. He treasures the old stuff, T.V's, radios, telephones, video games, cameras, you name it. His collection is continuing to grow. He wants to work on things, all the time. He likes to tinker and gets so much satisfaction out of taking something old and broken and getting it

March Madness

March rolled in with a mother daughter trip to Oklahoma. Jayden had Ace at a trainer in Oklahoma and it was my turn to make the trip down south to pick him up. Leana, the trainer was willing to give Jayden a few lessons and help her with her young barrel horse in training, Joker. Thursday morning, Jayden loaded Joker in the trailer and we headed south. She drove the first 4 hours and I drove the from Kansas City, the remaining 3 hours. The drive down went pretty well and it gradaully got warmer the farther  we drove, reaching up to 60. We arrived at Leanna's ranch at 4. Leanna has a silver braid down her back, she looks to be late 60 and a hard core cowgirl. Her ranch consists of many pens with horses in training and a big arena on a hill. Her and her husband also have cattle. She looks like a hard worker and spends many hours in the saddle. We unloaded Joker and started right in on a lesson. Leanna rode Ace and gave Jayden lots of training and riding tips.  Mostly she showed her s

Play

Homeschool kids get to hold onto their childhood ways just a little longer. They dont have the peer pressure of other kids telling them what is cool and how to act. They get to be their own person, have an imagination, be creative, and be their own person. They get to be a kid and act like one. I love that my boys held on to their stuffed animals and slept with them for so long. Luke sleeps with his favorite stuffed animals every night. He has specail ones, Goofy has been the favorite from Disneyword he got at age 5. Maui the turtle he got from Hawaii and his latest new fluffy dog he got for Christmas. And there is that blanky that still is kinda nice to have at night too. I love that the kids enjoyed playing and having toys. Jayden had her Barbies and dolls and played with them up until she was 13 and changed her room and decided it was time to pack them away. Jake, at age 14 will still farm with his brother and set up all their farm toys. Like an architect or engineer, he has alway
