Training Horses

Jayden has been working with her baby weanling and has made a lot of progress. She doesnt work him too often because she doesnt want to overwork him or spoil him. He is really coming along and she is able to lunge him on the end of her lead rope inboth directions. She picks up his feet, grooms him, and is desensitizing him to things. She also spends multiple times each week working with Ace keeping him in shape and training on Joker. She loves her horses and it has been fun watching her progress.

Our Week

1/29/17 Monday was taekwondo practice. We got some good snow and Wednesday it was blowing enough to keep us home from taekwondo. I did manage to make it to Boone to see my good friend Carolyn. I love to get together with her and have some heart to heart talks. It had been since last spring that we had gotten together.  Thursday I took Jayden to a dermatology appointment,. She is absolutely fed up with her acne. She has been dealing with it for well over 3 years. It has been getting worse and these past few months even worse. She does all but cry in frustration. She has tried everything.  This week we had Thursday and Saturday roping practice. Friday Jayden and I helped with A Night to Shine while the boys and Mark went out to eat and roller skating in Ogden. It was Mark’s idea and they had some quality guy time. Erica came Saturday morning and hung out with Jayden into the afternoon. Erica is so involved in sports and activities, the girls rarely get to see each other. Rylie came and

Banquet

This year the TMRA youth rodeo group held their awards banquet at Hidden Acres. They had dinner and awards. Mark went just long enough to see Jayden get her awards and left. Luke ran around with his little rodeo buddies and Jayden wasnt feeling the greatest all day. I wasnt sure we would even be able to attend. It was long with so many kids in so many age groups getting awards. Jayden got winner of the average for the finals weekend and her award were engraved stirrups. They are very nice and fancy. I think she will keep them as a trophy rather than use them, they are just too neat. Johnny also chose a select group of kids to receive the Leadership award ans she was one of them. The youth rodeo group is great for kids to start and build up confidence.

A Night To Shine and Stacey's Bridal

Jayden and I went to Des Moines to hep with the Night to Shine. Life 107.1 radio christian radio station had been promoting the event on the radio. I looked it up online and watched a video and knew I wanted to take part in it. The Tim Tebow foundation started and sponsors the event. Tim Tebow is a famous chrisitan football player. The Night to Shine event is a prom put on for special needs kids.  A night to make them feel special and important. When I looked up the date, I realized we would be gone on our trip. I did however find a night in which we could help all the girls pick out prom dresses. That is how we came to help. Valley church was hosting the event and most of the helpers were church members. We were assigned our 3 dressing rooms for the night in which we would help the girls find dresses in their size and help them in any way needed. I assumed it would be all high school age, but that was not the case. Most of the ladies that came had a tint of gray hair and only a few

Happy Birthday Luke

Luke turned 9 today. He is my happy go lucky kid, social and friendly. He is full of smiles and laughter, but look out when he gets mad. He is 100% farm boy, loving dirt, tractors, and trucks. He brings so much joy into our lives.  On Luke's birthday he got to sleep in, watch tv, and just hang out. With the grandparents out of town,  he didn’t have any place fun to go during the day.  He got to open his gifts from us.  Luke has been all about his Nerf guns lately, so that was at the top of his wish list. He got a giant nerf gun that holds a lot of nerf bullets. Luke's best friend is a fanatic about guns and playing war and shooting. He also got a cool new pair of cowboy boots and a muscle car t shirt. Mawgee also made him a candy bar poster. They even have a steer skull on them. On the evening of his birthday, Luke had taekwondo, so I thought it would be fun to get a special cake to enjoy after his class. I tried to keep it a surprise, but he was with me when I got his cake. January

1/20 Somehow I got my times off and the boys and I arrived at Spanish class a half hour early. I am glad I did.  Today was the presidential inauguration and it was live on television. The Well cafe where the Spanish class meets, had it on the big screen. The boys and I sat and watched it and I got to see most of it. It was a historical moment and very interesting. I was most impressed by the many prayers and pastoral addresses and benedictions. It gives me hope that our country can still have God as its foundation. HE is the only leader we can confidently put our trust in. 1/21 January temperatures have been all over the place. We had one snow day that dusted just enough snow to cover the ground and melted in 24 hours. We have had some pretty cold temps and then a couple rainy days that turned everything to a thick sheet of ice. Now we are having milk temps that feel a little like spring. It has been well above normal this week in the 40 to 50 range. A new year and a new semester, w

VIP Rodeo Seats

Dave Nelson invited our family and the Spillman family to The World's Toughest Rodeo in Des Moines. The event is held in the Iowa event Center and a company that he works with had free tickets and the box suite for the weekend. Such a cool opportunity to enjoy the rodeo from the VIP seats. Fonda was out of town for the weekend with Mason, Mark had no interest in going to yet another rodeo, and only Alex from the Spillman family wanted to go. I wished all three families could have gone for some much needed bonding time. Dave and I came up with a plan, he would take the boys and go to Bass Pro shop and have some guy time, while Morgan, Jayden, and I would go to the shopping mall and later we would all meet at the rodeo. Jayden wanted to get a bathing suit for our upcoming Hawaii trip and find some new clothes. Morgan hung out and shopped with Jadyen and they had a great time. Jayden can hang out with a 12 year old, 24 year old, or 45 year old and get along with anyone, that is as lon

Baby Boy wahlert

Baby Wahlert was born today and given the name, Levi. At noon today I got a phone call from Luke. He had spent the night with Grandma and Grandpa Wahlert and called to tell me that Wade and Carina just had their baby boy named Levi Wahlert. What!? I was shocked and wondering why on earth nobody called to inform me that she was in labor or going to the hospital. Mawgee thought it should be a surprise. I must say I was disappointed I didnt get to know sooner. Last night Carina headed to the hospital at 10PM and Luke and Mawgee stayed the night at their house. The baby was due on Luke's birthday the 23rd. His arriving early was a blessing for my parents who will leave on the 12th for Hawaii for an entire month. It was so nice they got to meet their new grand baby before leaving. Luke is about to turn 9 and he is the baby in the family. It has been a long time since we have had babies in the family.  I wanted our whole family to go see the new baby. A new life is a huge deal and reaso
