9/25/16 Here is a recap of our week, ending summer and starting fall. Monday was a hot day in the upper 80’s. We went to Ames for Luke’s taekwondo class. He is doing a very good job and is always fun to watch. It gets pretty hot and stuffy in his class without A/C. Tuesday I took Jayden to Boone where she joined her friend Erica and Paige and headed to the American Royal youth rodeo invitational in Kansas City. The rodeo is based on an application of your rodeo achievements and academics in school. There is an entry process and not everyone gets selected. Erica’s Dad, Jim drove the girls in his giagantic trailer. It turned out to be a very hot day in the 90’s and even hotter in KC. All three girls did not have the run they hoped, in fact the all had troubles. Ace knocked the first barrel and ducked out of second, not turning like he did at IRCA finals. That is so frustrating and hard to know what is going on. Looking back, she is certain her horse is sore in the shoulder. She loves her horse Ace. Erica knocked two barrels and Paige missed her calf roping. At least the girls had each other to cheer up and it sounded like thy had a total blast together. It was a neat experience and they had fun all in all. I picked Jayden up at 10:30 that night in Boone.
Today was also the first day for Mark to start in the field. The first day he is always getting the kinks out, so it is kind of slow going. Wednesday the kids and I went to Ames for taekwondo and youth group. Something about being together all day every day for homeschool and then getting in a car and driving almost an hour each way in tight quarters is making us all crazy. The boys in the back seat are either giggling or fighting very loudly. There is not peace and quiet. Jayden was about to go crazy with her brothers and I just wanted some quiet. The evening is a lot of driving here and there and then sitting and waiting. It is not much fun for me and I don’t know how I am going to do it all semester. While in taekwondo, I ran and got supper for Jake. The minute Luke finishes taekwondo we have to hurry to the church for Jake’s 180 youth group. Then Jayden, Luke and I get something to eat. Then we wait until 8. Then I drop Jayden off and pick Jake up. Then we have another hour to wait. Jake likes to run around for that hour with his youth group friends. Luke was so sad and feeling left out because he wanted to run around with Jake's youth group friends too. By the time we get home, it is going on 10.The conversations after youth group reminds me why I do it and why it is important. Jayden and Jacob hear the same message and they talk about it on the way home and how God is working in their lives. Thursday , Mark, Jayden, and I all had appointments at Ballenger’s Hollistic health and chiropractor. We started taking Jayden trying to figure out why she is still having so much trouble with her joints and being tired. She has been detoxing and taking holistic medicines to try and get rid of some infection in her body and work on her immune system. Mark has been going for his back in hopes of finding relief. I thought I would give it a try for my back pain. My pain is between my shoulder blades. I only see the chiropractor, mainly because I am scared to try all the detox liquids. The doctor took x-rays and my problem is all tied to my neck. I stead of a nice curve, mine is beyond straight and staring to curve the opposite. It causes a lot of muscle tension in my back and shoulders. I was given an adjustment and some stretches. After all our appointments and paying our big bill for all our treatments and medicine ( insurance will not cover hollisitic), we went out for lunch. We made it home in time for Jayden’s 1:30 English Comp class. Friday it rained in the morning again. In the evening we celebrated my parents 48th anniversary by taking them out to dinner at Biaggios's in Des Moines. We had a large table to ourselves and good food. Wade’s family joined us also. Alice could not come as she has been staying close to home to care for her horse. Her horse Fancy had surgery that led to infection and all kinds of problems. Alice has to care for her horse around the clock. After our dinner outing, the boys went back to spend a couple nights with their Grandparents. Saturday it rained some more and we made a point to just stay home. Jayden and I cleaned at the shop office and around home. Sunday we went to church in Ames and met with Buhr’s for lunch. I took the boys to our Dayton connection group in the evening. The boys look so forward to connection group and running around with the kids. The Graden family hosts it in their house and has 4 girls. They along with Grave's, Lambert's, and us make up the connection group.
