TMRA Banquet

Jayden and Makenna have been excitedly planning for the TMRA rodeo banquet in Dayton. Both girls got asked to go to a winter formal dance with a friend that just wanted to go as a fun group of girls. I was not big on the idea and told Jayden to get excited about the banquet and go all out for it. The banquet had awards, dinner, and dance. Makenna no longer has her serious boyfriend, which makes for a lot more fun friend times. Jayden and Makenna went shopping earlier to find cute outfits.  Jayden spent the night at Makenna's so the girls could spend all day getting ready. To them it was like going to a cowboy prom. They primped and curled every inch of their hair and put on make-up, wore extra jewelry, the whole deal. Thankfully this only involved boots, belts, and jeans. The girls looked beautiful and my boys were dressed for the occasion too. The banquet was at 3:00 with dinner to follow. Mark came late in the evening for the dinner. He went to the funeral today to support the Sorenson family and the visitation. He wasn't looking forward to going to the banquet anyway. Jayden got some awards for 3rd in her division. The reserve champion gets a buckle and the champion gets a trophy saddle and buckle. There are 5 divisions for bulls and 5 divisions for barrels. That's a lot of awards!! The champions came down to dedication and whoever goes to all the rodeos  wins. I call that a trailer race. Basically you can't miss a rodeo, It is a point system and missing one rodeo, you lose 10 points. It would take going and winning at 10 rodeos to get that back. Even a knocked barrel gets points. It's hard to keep up and I don't think it is worth revolving your life around.
The dinner was really good and the dance started by 6:30. The kids were the only ones dancing and really got into the fast songs. The Nae Nae song was the big hit. All the kids got out on the dance floor and knew the moves. Even Jake and Luke were getting into the song. Luke is really fun to watch, that boy can dance. He even danced with Peggy H. Most of the kids stood along the wall and the girls only danced with the little boys. Luke didn't mind that it was his birthday, in fact he thought it was pretty cool to go to a dance on his birthday. I think they all had a good time.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
