11/13/15 What started as a birthday
sleepover, turned into an entire weekend of fun for Jacob. He has had such an
awesome year. I keep telling him, this will be a hard year to top. From all the
amazing things he has done this year, it can’t get any better: Flying in a
helicopter, riding in an old during a car ride to a car show, driving old tractors at a tractor
show, going to the Clear Lake car show, driving tracotrs in the field, driving
solo, camping in a cabin, trapping with friends, just to name a few.
Tonight was the birthday party sleepover
with friend Alex and cousin Rylie. Before the party, Alex came out with his
brother Braden right after lunch to set some traps in our creeks. That would
give the boys something to do the next morning. Makenna and Jayden got in on that part of the day and were driving
one gator and the boys another. They didn’t get much trapping in with both gators
low on fuel and having to run around filling them up. By 3:20 we picked Rylie
up at the Burnside school to head to Fort Dodge to the new attraction Fort
Frenzy. I wanted to be there as early as possible to avoid the Friday night
crowd. Jayden and Mark met us later. With the family pack, each of the kids got pizza, unlimited pop, $10 in arcade games, and unlimited attractions which
included go-karts, bumper cars, roller skating, and lazer tag. It was quite the
place and I was very impressed. It was only 50 degrees out, but the go karts
were up and running and the boys hit them first. They had so much fun! I even caught a fun photo of Jake and Luke coming in to park their karts. You can see them pushing their hardest to beat the other one. The determination is on their faces. They did
it all. The best part, for the first hour we had the place to ourselves, the
second hour maybe 8 others and by the time we left some pre-teen and early teens
were roaming trying to be cool. It was perfect. The boys laughed and had
fun. Even Dad and Jayden got in on the Lazer Tag. We headed home around 7:30
and let the boys watch movies as long as they wanted. It sounded like they were
up until 2. Luke made a bed on our floor just before midnight.
The next morning the boys went out and checked their traps. Steve and Braden came down to help. The boys were very excited to have caught a muskrat. Later they went to Spillman's and watched Braden skin it. They have been trapping for years and know all about it. Boy stuff, I think they all had fun.Rylie ended up sepnding another night too.
