Today
Jayden and I had a special trip planned. She had been sick all week and was
finally feeling better. We both needed to get out of the house and we had our day planned. A girl from the high school has been in the hospital
after a tragic car accicent. She has been in a coma with severe head trauma. Her mother is staying at
the Ronald McDonald house. I like to take Jayden every few years to the RMH and
take some donations and take a tour. The last time we went, she was 10. Knowing
someone staying at the RMH and it being around Jayden’s birthday, I thought it
was time to make a trip. We had made a couple dozen chocolate chip cookies,
had two frozen casseroles’ from Jullie’s store, and made a gift bag for Mrs. K
who was staying at the house. We put shampoo, soap, hand sanitizer, lotions,
toothpaste, toothbrush, devotions, a journal, a frame, crossward puzzles,
casey’s gas cadr, and lots of little things in a gift bag. We made a stop at
Target to buy supplies for the RMH off their wish list. We had fun shopping and
it felt so good to give to the house that has helped so many people.
At the house we had a very sweet gal show us around the house. It has changed so much since our last visit 4 years ago. The house accommodates 12 families. The kitchen are is roomy and a group comes in every night to prepare a meal for those staying there. A lot of it was like I remembered and it brought back many memories. I remember the top floor sitting in the big tv room scrap-booking and making birth announcements. The room full of quilts that I got to pick from when I stayed. I remember washing Jayden’s preemie clothes in the washers there. I remember staying the night and then spending my days at the hospital with little tiny Jayden. We took some pictures and left our items for a much appreciated loving house. We found the brick with our names on it too. After leaving the house, we went for lunch and did a little shopping.
I got a text from Jake who was staying with my parents. The
text was a picture of Jacob playing in the snow. Snow! Yes, the ground was
covered. It wasn’t doing anything where I was, but by the time we got home everything was
dusted in a layer of snow. It is much too early for snow.At the house we had a very sweet gal show us around the house. It has changed so much since our last visit 4 years ago. While Jayden and
I went to Des Moines, Jacob celebrated Veteran’s day with his Grandpa. Mawgee had
him do some research and learn about Veteran’s day to make it a homeschool day.
He went to the school with Peepaw and sat in on the school Veteran’s day
ceremony and passed out pencils to the kids. He loves spending time with his
grandparents and how neat to be able to be a part of this special and important
day with his Grandpa.
