Luke's Crush

Luke’s crush.  Luke met a little girl in Okoboji at the playground. The next evening we attended a meet and greet party at our resort. Sure enough his new friend “Little jayden” was there. She is a very pretty little 5 year old and was wearing a cute little dress. Luke spotted her and had to go say hi right away. It was loud, music was playing for the dance and Luke wanted to just stand by her and stare at her. A little later he told me he wanted to go ask her to dance and wanted me to go with him. It felt like I was watching an 8th grader at his first dance. He spotted her on the dance floor with her grandma and went up to dance with her. They got a couple steps in when another little boy about 6 grabbed her hands and started dancing with her. Luke didn’t seem too bothered at first as he waited for the song to end so he could dance with her the next song. The song ended and again the other boy took her hands and danced. This went on and the frustration is Luke’s face grew each time until he had had it and was holding back tears. This was all too much for me, I didn’t know whether to laugh or feel sad for him. I knew the mom from visiting the night before so for the sake of my little 4 year olds heart, I couldn’t stand to watch his heart break so I talked to the mom. She told her daughter Luke would like to dance with her. She was willing and they took hands and began to dance. Come to find out, the other little boy, who I thought was a family friend, was just some boy and the girls mom said this kind of thing happens everywhere they go. The boys really like her daughter. So Luke danced two songs and was so funny to watch. He just stared dreamily into her face and just held her hands and moved his feet.  It made his night. He told me he was going to marry her. A few days later Luke was walking with Mark mumbling to himself. Mark heard him saying” She probably won’t marry me she will probably marry that other boy.”  It is so adorable and yet blows my mind that a 4 year old would have such emotions for a little girl.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
