Christmas 2011

Today in the city of David, a Savior has been born to you, He is Christ the Lord.” And on this very day , we get to celebrate the birth of Christ. As I tell Luke today we get to give one another gifts for baby Jesus’s birthday because we cannot give him the gifts. Santa brings some gifts to share in all the celebrating too. Each of the kids were in their new pajamas furry with snowmen awake around 8:00AM. Luke was the first one up and full of excitment. They waited anxiously in the hallway until we lit the Christmas tree and grabbed the camera. It is such an exciting time. Luke ran to the tree exclaiming "My favorite crane.” Jacob spotted a remote control and said,”Cool”. He even had a letter fron Santa explaining that there were some problems with the exact remote control he wanted, but thought this one would be cool too. Jayden had a little red box that held inside the item she longed to have, an "Ipod touch" and she said, "Awesome!” After the santa gifts and stockings we all slowly pulled out one gift after another. The kids each got a little something for each other they picked out and wrapped themselves. That is always special to see the thought and love behind it. I got a leather western purse that Jayden and Daddy picked out and my very own rope. Mark got some clothes, movies, and a suitcase. Jayden and I also made him a harvest album. There is an Ipod game called Angry Birds that has been popular for about a year. It didn't take long for Daddy and the boys to get hooked playing it on Jayden's Ipod. By 9:00 the gifts were opened and we had brunch that was a yummy breakfast casserole. The rest of the day the kids spent trying out and playing with their new stuff. My living room was a disaster with boxes, wrapping paper and toys. Again the weather has been so mild that we all went outside in the shop to rope a little.

Around 3:00 we headed to Grammer and Po Po’s for our Muench family Christmas. We feasted on some of Linde and Julie’s Prime Rib and had all kinds of fixins. We never stopped eating until we went to bed. Po Po has been growing this big beard and really looks like Santa Claus. I took a Santa picture with the kids. I do hope he shaves after Christmas. After the meal, we had singing and skits. Lori sang, Maggie played her guitar, and Jaynie and Jayden sang. Jayden had a little skit that she had written up ahead of time. She put on a 5 minute skit on the true meaning of Christmas. Luke was the drummer boy and a sheep, Rylie was a shepherd, Jaynie and Jayden were the angels, Maggie was Mary, and Abby was the helper, Jacob layed down as Jesus. Next it was gifts, we tried something new this year with a little gift giving game in 4 groups. It was a nice change. The rest of the night was more munching on goodies and playing games. Pictionary was the game the adults played with lots of laughs. The teenagers made a boy run and brought back a couple boyfriends. I am not sure what I think of boyfriends at the family gatherings. Luke sure took to being the center of attention and put on quite a show.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
