4H Horse Show Day

The horse project kids had to be to the fair for a meeting at 9:30AM before the show started. Jayden’s classes were all in the evening, so we had a long day of waiting. We fed Jessie and Jayden rode her practicing the pattern for her Horsemanship class that Mommy talked her into last minute. The rest of the day we watched some classes and hung out in the camper with the A/C. Outside the sun was awful 95 and the camper’s A/C couldn’t keep up. It still felt good to be in the camper even if it was 85 degrees inside. Jaynie, Rylie, and Maggie watched a movie in the camper and I read a book. The heat in the indoor arena was like sitting in an oven. The horse show took a two hour break so everyone could rest and eat. At 6:00 the classes were starting again. Jayden was in walk-trot first. This was 8th grade and under so there were several kids in the class. She did a great job on Jessie, and got a red. There were plenty of western pleasure horses in the class and tough competition. Jayden was discouraged and didn’t really want to do the next two classes, however we talked her into it. She ended up doing very well in both Western Pleasure and Horsemanship. I was so proud of her for not being afraid and doing her best. There was an hour break before her last class a fun one, costume class. A friend of Grandma’s helped sew some accents to a shirt and made some cute little chaps so Jayden had her own Toy Story “Jessie” costume. She completed her look with a red hat. She looked so cute. She added some decorations to her horse that looks just like “Bullseye” from the movie. When interviewed, she really played it up and used her big cowgirl drawl. It was pretty cute and she came close to a trophy. I made sure the boys wore their “Woody” shirts to the fair too. Karen and Orrie brought the boys and stayed to see Jayden. Aunt Alice watched them during the day for us. Jayden had several cousins to watch and Aunts and Uncles. Mawgee and Peepaw were missing being there and I know how much they wanted to be there, however they were on a big trip in Alaska. Today I wished I was in Alaska.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
