Wow what a fair. The horse project was just plain exhausting coming from a mom. Jayden was required to attend meetings through the year and had to bring her horse to several. For the fair, her horse was stalled for 4 days and the horse show was Saturday and Sunday in extreme heat. A cattle, sheep, or hog show lasts around 3 to 4 hours at the county fair. The horse show was 17 hours of horse showing. Jayden was only in 5 classes. From the very start, Jadyen’s pony was not happy and had an attitude. We put her in her stall where she pawed at the ground and banged on the door. She was tossing her head into you and not very pleasant. Right when we arrived at the fair, cousins Jaynie and Maggie were right there anxious to help Jayden in any way they could, even if it meant scooping poop. Saturday the temperature was 95 and the indoor arena was beyond hot! Jayden’s first class was halter. It was a disaster from the start. Her cowgirl hat fell off more than once as she tried leading her. Jayden’s pony Dakota would not stand for Jayden. She spun in circles and was very naughty. The arena helper had to come and hold Dakota for the remaining class and she had trouble with her. I said a little prayer for Jayden and just watched feeling so bad for her. I had no idea she would act that way as we showed her last weekend at a show in halter and she was fine. Jayden was in tears and I know she felt humiliated. She toughend up and went back in for the reserve champion class. She tried her best and she really did a great job handling Dakota. The arena help had to come hold Dakota once more and she rared up this time. This didn't help Jayden’s confidence and she was not looking forward to the rest of the day, nor was I. Later in the evening Jayden rode Dakota for a long time before her classes. It was so hot and Daddy thought the more she rode, the more tired Dakota would get. I honestly do not think this pony could ever wear down. She was pepped up and Jayden was doing all she could to make her walk. Her pony was drenched in sweat, but no signs of slowing down. Jayden rode her in Walk trot and western pleasure class and did a very good job in both. At the end of the class the kids are to go back into the arena where they present the ribbons. Jayden tried with Dakota, however she would not stand still. It was really sad as every horse there would stand quiet and could enter the arena and exit very quiet. The more I am around that little pony, the more I cannot wait to see her go. We need to have a horse Jayden can call her own and safely ride before we get rid of Dakota. Our new horses aren't quite there yet. The show went on and on until late Saturday night. Then round two Sunday morning and all throughout the day. Jayden did barrels and poles on her pony. This is something her pony is very good at and Jayden feels confident about. Unfortunately she knocked a pole over, but had a smoking barrel run. She has really improved running barrels. What a week!! It is definitely for the kids.
