We woke up to a white snow
covered ground and temps in the 20’s. Today Dad was scheduled for gall bladder surgery. They took xrays and did a CAT scan in the morning and decided he was not ready. His
lungs are giving him trouble and there is fluid in around them. Jayden and I
went over to the hospital to see him. He was so weak he could barely talk. It
took such effort to say anything. He did not know the surgery was delayed when
I first got there. He said staying one more day is not going to make him any
better. He said every night there is hell. It broke my heart to see him so
miserable and then to hear he wasn’t going to have his surgery for two more
days. He is feeling so discouraged. His CPAP quit in the night and I suspect
that played a role in his lungs. They got another one up and running for him
today. As soon as they got it up and running, he strapped it on and slept. I pray that will help a lot. The
doctors also put him on stronger antibiotic. Alice has been rotating with mom,
she seems so worn out and stressed. It just doesn't seem like Dad is getting any better. I question if he should be moved to Iowa City or Mayo. I just want him to be in the best hands and I am not sure Ames is the place to be. It seems like the doctors messed up in the beginning with the scope. I don't understand why they didn't take his gall bladder right away, or put the stent in before he got pancreatitis. I hate that he has gotten so sick. All we can do is be patient and pray.
Mark has been working so hard. We
finished combining Saturday, took Sunday off and he has been going hard since.
Doing field work and setting up Salfords and running demos , he is going hard ,
getting in late and up early. When harvest ends, he is supposed to slow down. He hasn't yet. I always feel like he takes on way more than he should. How do you make them slow down?
