Match Of The Broncs

Today was the last of the “Match of the Broncs” series and probably the last we will be part of. Mark and I were the arena helpers along with the help of Spillman’s. It had rained the day before making the ground conditions ideal. Earlier in the week when the girls practiced it was dry and so hard. The serpentine girls performed and are looking better all the time. Sadly there is a lot of drama among the girls and they seem to be divided right down the middle. It takes the fun out of it and puts tension in the air. We just try to stay out of it and be kind to everyone. Jayden competed on Ace in barrels and had the run of her life. He ran perfect. She lined him up and pushed him through. He wrapped each barrel so tight I know she touched each one. She lost her stirrup, but picked it up while kicking to the third barrel. He ran home and she had a 17.80 second run winning the barrels. She ran against the tough girls and won. Cheyenne took second, then Makenna. I was so happy and excited. This was Jayden’s first barrel win ever, first time winning a check, and first win on Ace. Poles were flawless too as she weaved in and out getting a second place. She got a check for $30 in barrels and $20 in poles. It was a good day. It was so good to see Jayden’s hard work and dedication pay off. She has wanted to do well for so long and today she was so happy. God is good. I gave Jayden a big hug and felt so proud. She has waited a long time for this day to come!
The series gave belt buckles to the overall winners, Erica H. got the buckle for 13 and under. Makenna S. got the buckle for the over 13 group. I am so thankful for this group of girls in the picture. They have been fun friends that Jayden has really enjoyed hanging out and riding horses with over the past 3 years. She is going to miss them next year as they all move on to different things. We have decided to take a break from serpentine for awhile. Time to move on and try something new with the horses.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
