Technology has taken us so far!! Cell phones to iphones, the internet in the palm of your hands. The DVD player has been in
cars for around 10 years. We have never had the luxury of having one in our car
or would even want one. We fill the car with books for the kids and that
occupies them just fine when driving here and there and are learning
something. Karen and Orrie just bought a new Suburban with a DVD player in it.
We got to try it out the other night. Talk about fancy, it even had a remote
control and wireless headphones. What will they think of next. This day and age
the ipod touch’s, ipad’s, and iphones are popular. I wouldn’t mind having myself an ipad. We
will see what santa thinks.... So after having an ipad mini for several months, it is
handy and i like it. It helps me keep organized. I can keep events, phone numbers and information in it. I can take pictures and videos and it fits nicely into my purse. I am not on it a ton, but the kids are crazy over it. There are millions
of apps out there and you just chose what you want and download them in an instant. Some are free some cost a few dollars. I got several games for the
kids and tried to keep them all educational. I thought it would
be handy in the car and waiting in restaurants or for appointments. I think it
has just made the kids crave it more. It is like an addiction. They want to
play it all the time and fight over it. I learned right away that you have to
set time limits. It only took a few car rides to realize it was a fight, who
gets it first, who gets it longer, and so on. Now it does not go in the car.
When they are on it, they are so in tune to it that I can’t pull them away from
it. They are so addictive. Recently I had to cut the games out of our daily
routine. Between the ipad, xbox which the boys love to play all the time too,
and computer it was getting bad. After school they get to play it for an hour. They are always asking to play it more often and now that the weather is good, i want them outside more. Now they have game day on Tuesday, Thursday,
and Saturday only and limited time on it. It is going to be crazy to see how
this generation of kids is going to turn out with all the technology they use.
Most kids have no limit. Jayden has a friend that she sits with in the mornings
before school. She tires talking to her but she only says a quick yes or no because
she is on her ipad continually watching Netflix movies. She even watches them
while she is having lunch. I also observe people out and about, walking in the mall, sitting in a restaurant, people are so tuned into their phones and tuned out of the rest of the world. Its like they are in their own little world. I just don't think it's healthy. I truly wish
they never ever came out with texting, I wish cell phones only stayed in cars and
were for emergency only. Technology is not all its cracked up to be.
