Church and Trickor-treating

Jayden is still on the song list to sing in Stratford. Today she got to sing a solo at the Stratford church. She sang’”Word of God Speak” and did a wonderful job. We also had Luke get up and sing his song he has been practicing,”Love Him All You Little Children.” He has been wanting to sing and church and he got right up there and was ready to sing. It was super cute. It was nice to see so many of the church members and smiling faces. It makes me kind of sad that so many miss us. I have no doubt in my mind that we are at the right church, just feel bad for the church we left behind. Afterwards was the ever dreaded potluck. Back at home we had a few hours to relax before getting decked out in Halloween costumes. Luke as Woody, Jake as a motor cross racer, and Jayden as a zebra. We headed to Dayton on a cool night of trick or treating. With Daddy done in the field, he got to go along too. We pulled the little red wagon for Luke so we could cover more ground. He would jump out of the wago

Fall Party

Luke had a fall party at pre-school and the parents got to come. The classroom was filled with fun activities, paint a pumpkin, decorate a cookie, leaf catch, create spiders, and bean bag toss. The kids were dressed in costume and super cute.

End Of Harvest

After Luke's fall party at school, I took him to the field in Dayton where he got in on the very last few rounds of harvest. YES, we are officially done!! It was a good harvest with good yields (Avg. 185).

Jesus and School

Riding in the car Luke says to me. "We don’t do Jesus stuff at school.” I think it is so incredibly sad that we do not have Jesus in our schools. No prayers, no learning, no songs. What has this world come too. In Romans 12 it says do not conform to this world… It is so hard when we take God out of our schools. I explained the best I could that there was a rule made and teachers can’t teach or pray. However I told him that he can talk and sing and pray about Jesus anytime that he wants to in school. How are we supposed to teach our kids that God should be a part of our everyday life when it is forbidden in school where they spend most of their time. Even Luke at the age of 3 has already figured that out.

AWANA

We are well into AWANA and I am helping the Sparks kids again. There is a small group of 5 this year. Small but the most challenging. There are 3 kindergartners that are wild and naughty. They really take a lot out of you in a night. During a recent AWANA the Sparks had a lesson that had to do with carving a pumpkin. Each kid got to have their own pumpkin to decorate with a marker. With Aaron gone, Jacob was the only one that wasn’t a kindergartner. He tend to act like the kids he is around. Luke loves being a Cubbie and does well. He gets pretty wild too and has one little boy that likes to wrestle him to the ground. Luke thinks it is all fun. Jayden is struggling to enjoy her time at AWANA. She is in her last year and doesn’t have any of her friends attending this year. She also has too very mean boys that like to annoy her. This year has been a struggle and we know it will be our last. I think the AWANA program is wonderful, but I see it slowly fading in this church. Sadly there are

Kites

We enjoy our church in Ames so much. They teach the gospel and they go through books of the bible one chapter at a time. We are studying the book of revelation. Today was about how all will worship God. Everyone in heaven, on earth and below earth. The songs were awesome too with added drums that were powerful. We ate out and got groceries before heading home. Such a pleasant fall day warm and a light breeze. Just right for kite flying. Jacob spent the weekend with Rylie at Grandma and Grandpa’s so Rylie was with us for kite flying too. I love enjoying a nice day outside as a family.

Fall Day

A nice fall weekend with temps right at 70. So nice after a chilly week. I had lunch and dinner duty for the field, so we stayed close to home. We also got to try out a new combine with a 16 row corn head. It just came out in August. The only problem is the corn tank is not any larger than ours(12 row) , so they have to pull out in the middle of the field in order to dump in the grain cart. I put the boys in the combine after lunch so Jayden and I could ride horses. We had a nice ride along the creek and through the corn fields. Jake and Luke got to spend a lot of time with their favorite cousin Rylie. They all spent time in the field and played here at the house raking lots of leaves. Rylie is so well mannered and kind. Jayden enjoys playing with him and Luke loves to be around Rylie. At times during the day Jake and Rylie were together and they are two of a kind. They were out exploring the shop and hauling dirt with Po Po. Today was also a big day as we finished combining corn down

Halloween Zebra

At the end of the day, Jayden went to her friend Claire’s Halloween party. I took a photo of the 6th grade girls, Ebony, Claire, Jayden, Carson, and Hannah. Jayden came up with her costume, a zebra fairy. Her favorite part was getting to wear as much make-up as she wanted.

Volleyball

Jayden enjoys the sport of Volleyball. Her school has practice a couple nights a week for October to teach the 4th through 6th grade Volleyball skills. She has been enjoying practice and plans to continue in Junior high. She is not sure yet about basketball.

Cement

Today the last of the concrete was poured at the new shop. The kids all got to put their hand print in the cement. Luke did his a few days ago. It was so cold they did it fast and waited in the car. It has been in the 40 to 50’s all week.

Presentation

Today Jayden gave her presentation on Louisa Alcott. She was a civil war nurse. Jayden had to research, write a report, make a diorama, and come up with a costume. I got to sit in on her class presentation. She worked very hard on her project and did a good job.

Farming

Its gotten chillier each day this week. Luke still has to have his daily ride in the field. He really likes riding with Mike in the BIG tractor adding fertilizer. I am running out of field food ideas and am looking forward to them being done!

Funny Luke

Luke gives us a chuckle every day. The funny things he says and does are always making somone smile. In the combine, Luke likes to have his hand on the hand controller throttle. The combine is so high tech, it has auto drive so nobody has to even touch the steering wheel. We have had that for a few years already, pretty amazing! Luke says he is driving and has to keep his hand on the lever at all times. He likes to sneekingly speed it up little by little. Great Aunt Dorothy was visiting and got in on some harvest time. Luke was sitting on her lap in the combine when he turned to her and said,"You have a little lap." The other day, Luke was playing his leap pad game and it wasn't working quite righht for him. He was getting angry with it and took it over and set it in the time out mat and said it was being naughty. Luke hears words and has his own way of saying them. He says "war" when saying the word "your". He calls Wisconsin "Maconsin". Co

Orchard Haven

The kids the day off from school and as we have done every year, we took the day to spend at an apple orchard. This year we tried a new place in Cambridge. Alice, Mawgee, Carina, and Alivia met us there for lunch. The apple orchard was geared for kids and groups. It was like an amusement park with so much to do. There were lots of farm animals to see, hayride, giant jumping pillow- (Jacob loved), hay maze, giant slide, pedal tractors, old time school house, pool of corn to play in, and fun stuff to see. It was a hit, except for one thing, cold. I did not dress the kids right and we all froze in a low 50’s day. Had the sun been out and warm, we would have enjoyed it so much more.

Harvest Days

The miles put on my Tahoe running kids to the field, meals, and trips to trucks and kids to and from school. . Luke wants to ride in the field all day. He rides with anyone who is driving the combine and today with Aunt Linda who drove the grain cart. She likes to love on him.

Pumpkin Party

Today was Wade and Carina’s Pumpkin Party. A lot of time and planning went into the big party. After church, Alivia met us as soon as we pulled in, she couldn’t wait for Jake & Luke to join the party. Many of Alivia’s daycare kids were already jumping in the big leaf pile. The day was planned out minute by minute with activities: broom race, dunking apples, pin the eyes on the monster, decorate your own pumpkin, decorate and frost cookies, hayride, and of course eating all the halloween themed food and snacks. Tons of fun for the kiddos! The day was nice with an 80 degree sunshine.

Fall Photos

The day was warm sunny and windy. I took the kids to Don Williams park for some fall photos.
