Lake Rathbun

Our family along with Wade & Carina, Alivia, Grandma & Grandpa W, and Auntie Alice headed to Lake Rathbun at Honey Creek Lodge. Our family went a night before everyone else. The lodge was very nice and everything so new, this is the first year it was up and running. There was a lot of finishing to do and the beach and bike paths were not done. Of course we packed all our bikes and beach supplies. The best part was the indoor waterpark. This area had a zero entry baby pool with pirate ship slides, a lazy river, a basketball hoop, floating walkway, and a big slide. The entire area was under 3.5 feet. It was perfect for our kids. Jake was a fish and loved it. He jumped in and out a ton. He spent most of his time under the water. Luke had to get his balance figured out and fell face first numerous times while walking in knee deep water. After the first day, he had it figured out. Jayden was swimming all over showing me how she can swim and could zip down the big slide. Everyone en

Freedom

I have had Chelsey babysit the kids on Tuesday and Thursday and it has been going well. I have enjoyed the little bit of freedom and have been able to do so much. Most of the time it is just Luke or Jake and Luke. She spends a lot of the time outside playing with the kids. She seems to play with them too. She now drives herself, which is super convenient. I feel sorry for Chelsey as her home life is such a mess. I hope that her coming to our house gives her a chance to get away from it all.

Father's Day 2009

To start our morning, Jayden sang a solo in church on Father's Day. She sang "I could Sing of Your Love Forever." She sang it wonderful and without even having the words to look at. It was a tough song, but she sang it great. After church Anderlik's had us over for a Father's Day lunch. We all sat out on their new deck. It was very humid and hot outside. The deck was not finished and had one area that did not have steps yet. Inside the house there are 4 seperate stairs, so I chased Luke and watched him climb up and down over and over. He is at a hard age, not old enough to be unsupervised.

Jayden at Summer Camp

June 14-19 Jayden spent the week at Hidden Acres Christian camp/ horse camp. Jayden was excited to go and very scared. She was signed up to go with her friends Hannah and Makena. That was what she was most excited about. She also knew she was going to be sleeping in a chuck wagon and that she was not excited about. I couldn’t blame her as I got to peek in them ahead of time and they were pretty rustic with lots of daylight shinning through. To make things even more of a challenge, Jayden had her last ballet recital performance, so we had time to go home, take a qucik shower and head to camp. She was about an hour late and the kids were in chapel, she also missed dinner. Mark, Jake, and I carried Jayden’s giant bag to her chuck wagon and a top bunk was all that was left. Jayden was scared about sleeping on top. I also saw the duct tape above her bed in a few spots and cringed, but stayed brave for her. There were 4 bunk beds in this tiny wagon and a hammock was strewn between them all.

Grandparents

Throughout the summer, the kids have spent a lot of time going to the grandparents playing and spending the night. At the Muench grandparents, there are most often several cousins to play with and they have some great times together. At the Wahlert grandparents, one of the highlights is fishing with Pepaw. Some other summer fun, county fair, dinosaur exhibit at Reiman Gardens, castle park in Iowa Falls, and lots eating out at McDonalds. The kids enjoy their grandparents so much. They are so fortunate to have them close.

Dance Dance Dance

Jayden took lessons at Carol Renae's dance studio. The weeks before the recital are always intense and a bit stressful. Jayden has had to practice 3 nights a week for 2 weeks and the final week it has been every night, a full dress rehersal Thursday, and 3 recitals over the weekend. Jayden does a ballet routine to the song "Beautiful World" and wears a shimmery cream colored outfit. The dance is pretty and graceful. Her jazz is to a song " Sneakernight" and the girls wear silver sparlky shoes with purple sparkly outfits. She also has a tap routine to the "Move It Move It" song. She wears a purple outfit and her class is combined with another calss with around 25 girls. The entire recital lasted around 2 1/2 hours. It went well, but ti was nice when it was all over. Jayden snjoys all the frill of it. Having her make-up on and hair fixed and being on stage. During rehersal week, she told me she did not want to do dance next year, however during the recit

Summer Swim Lessons

Jake has been in swim lessons the past two summers and still has a fear of putting his face in the water. Jake took a once a week swim lesson for 8 weeks in May and June. My goal was for him to just be able to dunk his head under water. I even got in the water with him before his lessons and worked on putting his face in. He was so scared of the water, we were making little progress. I would always just count to 3 and dunk him. By the end of the class, he was still very uneasy about the water. I figured the more he was in the water the better and eventually he would just do it. Summer started and I signed both Jayden and Jake up for 2 weeks of everyday lessons. Slowly but surely and with lots of bribing, such as a bag of candy, a trip to the library, Mcdonalds play place, each night he dunked once, by the end, he was proudly dunking and jumping in of the edge. Daddy came for one of the last nights and Jake was showing off. I am so excited he has overcome his fear!! It was such a big a

Where O Where Has My Little Dog Gone?

We took Daisy to a friend to have her long shaggy matted hair clipped. When she brought her back to me, I started laughing and I kept asking, “Are you sure that’s our dog”. Oh she looks like an entirely different dog. She seems so little and like a pup. Everytime I see her I just laugh.

Busy Week of Summer

Why not pile it all into a couple weeks. This week Jake and Jayden are going to vacation Bible school from 8:30 until 11:30 at the Boxholm Lutheran church. Later in the afternoon it is dance practice, then to finish the evening, swim lessons. Yes, it is a bit busy for us.
