Play Date

My friend Lisa N. has a daughter Mallory, Luke’s age and a boy Mason, a year younger than Jacob. We like to get together and let the kids play. Today the kids did lots of playing. We let the boys play outside on our giant snow hill. It has gotten pretty big with all the snow piled up this year. They had so much fun.

1 yr. Check Up

Each time we have a doctors appointment, I realize how much we miss our old pediatrician, Dr. Roberts. She was our doctor for 8 years and moved away. Dr. Halbur has been our new pediatrician so far, I am still not sure if that will stay. Finding a good doctor is rare. Luke had his one year check. He weighed in at 24.5 lbs and 31 inches long. My biggest kid yet. They want him to come back for a head check as his head measures large. He also had to have 4 shots. He didn’t cry long and he didn’t cry at all when they pricked his finger and squeezed it.

Grandma Turns 88

My Grandma Lillian Laugerman has been in assisted living and today we had her 88th birthday party. Duane’s family was there along with our family. Sadly Grandma has not known who we are for a few years. She stays in a very nice center with lots of nice ladies. She seems very happy there and my mom checks on her and visits frequently.

Happy Birthday Baby

Today my baby boy Luke turned 1 year old. I have been blessed with healthy wonderful children. I am so fortunate to be able to stay at home with them and enjoy all the little things. God has been good to me! Knowing Luke is our last baby makes it sad and makes me want to cherish these moments even more. I had a photography idea I could not wait to do. Since we already had a party, we had our own fun at home. We set Luke in front of his own birthday cake on the floor with him only wearing a diaper. It took a lot for him to touch the cake. We finally put some in his mouth and stuck his hand in it. Once he got a taste, he did some more sampling. It was a wonderful photo time!

Party Time for Luke

We had a birthday party for Luke at the Grand Times Café in Boxholm. Most all of the relatives came for a nice prime rib dinner. Aunt Melinda decorated the cake to match Luke’s party decorations. They were the same plates, invites, and party decorations I had saved from Jake’s first birthday party with farm animals. The cake was a big circle with a cow face on it. I made the tiny duck face cake for Luke to have of his very own. My mom made a birthday banner for Luke also. She is very crafty. During cake time, it took a long time for Luke to touch the cake. He had a lot of help with trying it out. He is very unsure of textures and I can’t get him to eat anything that is not pureed. It was a nice little party to celebrate Luke. He is a true gift of God. For his birthday present, we had all the Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents, and family go in on one big present. We got a little tykes clubhouse playhouse. We know he will enjoy it over the years as he grows and brother and sister can enjoy it

Sled Rides

Luke got a sled for Christmas and it has gotten more use in our house than out. His favorite thing is to go on rides through our house. It gives him such excitement and he can never get enough. Multiple times a day he goes over to the sled, crawls in and hollers until someone will pull him. It has been used outside once or twice too.

Serious Surgery

My Aunt Rose L. had to have major open heart surgery. She had a bad valve in her heart, plus she had a very unusual condition with a layer covering her heart. The surgeon had only done the surgery one other time. We were all praying for Rose and her recovery. She ended up having two pig valves placed in her heart and got along great. I know she had so many friends and family praying for her. She is a true inspiration in so many ways. She is truly amazing and I have always looked up to her. We are all so thankful that the surgery went well and she will be stronger because of it.
