Hidden Acres Camp

June 28-July2 Jayden went to her first camp at Hidden Acres for 3 nights. I was so worried for her, but I was not letting her see that. I was afraid she would get homesick. She was brave and gave us big hugs goodbye. On the evening we picked her up, they had a program at the chapel. Jayden gave us a hug and told us she didn’t miss us at all. She said she had too much fun. She loved it!! The chapel program was so energetic and the group seemed like a blast. Jayden enjoyed the lake, she rode horses, they had campfire, canoeing, carpet ball, and lots of fun things. I am so happy she went and enjoyed it.

Boys

Luke loves his toes. I think baby toes are the cutest. Jake has never napped since he sent from his crib to his bed at 2. He sleeps hard at night and never wakes until morning. He has to sleep with as many stuffed animals as possible in his bed, he even has a gigantic trout. Luke has been a good little sleeper and napper too.

Prairie Meadows

Warren Bush from the biodiesel group had a big race for the biodiesel group at the prairie meadows races. Warren owns a few horses and spends a lot of time at prairie meadows. He gave everyone a background tour through the jockey quarters and the horse barns showing off his horses. We took the kids and they enjoyed the whole experience. My favorite is the buffet dinner with the pasta chefs. The weather was super nice, so we enjoyed the race from outside. It was great seeing the horses run. Warren thinks Jayden is just amazing and he had her present the winner with a leather halter. Jacob got his own pair of real goggles from one of the jockeys. We all got to stand in the winners circle and have our photo taken. Still waiting to receive that photo.

Horsin

I took Jayden & Jacob to the arena for a wranglers fun horse show. Aunt Alice came along to help watch Jacob. We got there early so Jayden could ride her pony Dakota in the arena. McKenna Spillman was there ready to ride too. The girls had so much fun riding all over the arena together. It was nice to finally see Jayden having fun and getting to ride with kids her age. When the show started, Jayden was signed up for all kinds of classes. It was a big crowd and the classes were around 15 kids. Jayden did awesome. She placed 3rd in walk trot and she got second in the pleasure class. She did milk can race, barrel, poles, flags. I also rode in a few classes on my good ol horse Joe. He is such a great horse and he is now 22. Jayden did the best I have ever seen her run barrels. She loped the whole pattern and looked great. Jacob too got in on some classes and had a good time. It was a fun night and Jayden was excited over all the ribbons she won.

Basketball

June 17, 18, 19 Jayden went to basketball camp at burnside from 1-3. It was a lot of driving back and forth 25 min each way. Luke cried a lot during the driving. Jayden thinks its hard and has already decided she doesn’t like basketball. Great! At night I have been taking supper out to the guys 3 in the field. Taking the kids, especially a baby is sooo hard and stressful. Luke usually cried the entire time in the car. Then we have to stop and feed the horses. Oh I cannot wait until the day we move the horses to our place. I have been patiently waiting!

License to drive

Allie has her first set of wheels. I must say I am very nervous with her driving. She has such little experience. She also has a job now at the dairy queen in Boone. Her job at Casey’s in Ogden didn’t work out. I pray that she will be safe on the roads. Gas prices have been at their highest, current gas $3.89

Bad Weather

Wed.11 Jayden and I had a girls day and went shopping. I surprised her by letting her get her ears pierced. Mark and I discussed the right age, he said 16 and I said 6. After much discussion we decided she would be responsible and take care of them at the age of 8. Jayden was brave as they did one ear at a time. She was thrilled and couldn’t wait to show them at VBS in the morning. That night I had the kids with me in the basement until 11:00Pm as Mark was at a meeting and there were tornado warnings all over the state. There were 50 tornados that hit over the country all night. One of the tornadoes hit a boy scout camp near Omaha killing 4 boys. It was very tragic and terrified me thinking of Jayden at camp. The rain keeps coming down and an area in our basement continues to flood. There are thousands of flooded homes across the state. Cedar Rapids seems to be one of the worst hit areas.

VBS

June 9-13 This week Jayden and Jacob had Vacation Bible School at the Boxholm Lutheran church each morning from 8:30 to 11:30. They both were very excited and had fun each day. Each day they carried their little offering in a bag and Jayden would hold Jacob’s hand and walk him in. Luke fussed a lot going back and forth in the car. He also took very short naps all week for me. That made for a very long week! One night during the week, I let Jayden have her friend Claire stay over night. The weather this week has been a flood watch week. IT has been out of control, on Sunday night it rained flooding hwy 30 near Boone.

Horse Riding

Jayden had stayed the past two niughts with my parents and Grandpa took her fishing. Tonight, Karen and Orrie babysat so Jayden and I could ride horses. I have been wanting to get started on working with Billy again. I saddled him up and put him in the round pen. That horse leaped and bucked and leaped lap after lap. Great! What is going to keep hiim from doing that with me on his back? Red flag to me, I am thinking more and more that selling him is my best option. I was hoping to make a horse for the kids out of him. I didn't end up riding and watched Jayden ride. That little pony is such work for JAyden. She really gets after that pony and makes her mind.

Laundry

Since school has gotten out for the summer, Jayden has done laundry. She does it almost daily and I rarely do any. She sorts, washes, dries, folds, and puts away. She is just awesome and she likes doing it. I think she gets bored easily and likes to have something to keep her busy. Loving it!

Too Wet To Plant

It wasn't supposed to rain today, but it puored down three different times. We are so saturated. Mark has just about had it with the rain! We have most of our planting done, but there are still a few spots left and there are ponds everywhere, so that means lots of re-planting. The basement still has lots of water to vaccum too.

More Babies

Jake has been spending hours and hours outside playing each day. He plays in his sandbox that Grandpa Wahlert made for him and he likes to play in the mud and roll all over the dog. He sure smells lovely after that. Jake talks about us having more babies quite often. He asked me when the next baby would be here. We asked him why he wants more babies. He said," Luke is so cute, I want another one." Love it! I have also heard Jake say “ I just love Luke.” He uses the word “Just” often, not in the sense of only, but as in I really do. One day we were in town and I ran into some people I knew. They were talking to Jake and asked him if her had a girlfriend, he answered,” Well, I just do, her name is Jayden.”
